Overcome Overwhelm

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

(Philippians 4:8)

Worry, we all have it. The triggers differ, the frequency

and intensity differ, but it is a common human experience.

But sometimes our worry, stress, overwhelm, or fear

becomes too great. Sometimes it moves from everyday

stress to causing upsetting or significant problems in our

lives.

Has your worry gotten to the place where you are just

over it? Are you tired of it stealing your joy, sapping

your energy, negatively impacting your relationships,

keeping your brain spinning, or wrecking your sleep? Maybe you have been working on your worry for years, trying different tools that have been more or less effective, or maybe you have been experiencing worry for a long time but are just realizing now that it is time to do something about it.  You know that God heals but it hasn’t yet been your experience to truly get to a better place with worry.

If you’re ready to make some deep changes in your relationship to worry, fear, and stress, and want to learn truly powerful life-changing tools, then please read on for details about a program that will support you.  We want to give you tools that you can use right away to get relief.

The way that we think has a profound effect on our mental health. After many years of working with people who are having mental health struggles, I have learned that changing the way we think is one of the most powerful things we can do to become healthier, and to overcome significant mental health issues including worry, discouragement, relationship concerns, stress, addictions…and the list goes on.  You may have heard of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy before. It is a powerful form of therapy that is used to treat many mental health issues, including issues of worry and fear. It is based on the fact that the way we think has an impact on our feelings and behavior, and if we change the way we think then it will naturally follow that our feelings and behavior will change.  What is so interesting about this model is that components of it were created far earlier than when CBT as we know it came to be. In fact, the Bible talks many times about the importance of our thought life and its effect on the way that we feel.

One of the best ways to remove worry? Changing negative thinking

Here's what is included

4 Weeks of Live Online Trainings

Foundation

First we’ll dig deep. We will talk about the purpose of worry and fear (spoiler: it’s not all

bad!), as well as how this important biological instinct can get twisted. We will also talk about how changing thoughts makes such a dramatic impact on our mood (including worry level).

Week 1

Discovering Your Triggers

Everyone is very different when it comes to their worry triggers, as well as the techniques

that will be most helpful in overcoming worry. So first we will help you to discover your specific worry triggers (some of which may surprise you).  We will then begin discussion on how to deal with these triggers, creating personalized action plans.

Week 2

Changing Your Thinking

We will talk about how to actually go about changing your thinking so you can change

your mood. We will discuss some of my favorite tools that I use in my practice that have provided the most powerful changes in my clients’ levels of worry and fear. You will discover your personal areas where your thinking may not be entirely accurate, as well as ways to bring it into better alignment with the truth. We will dive into how to shift your mindset from the perspective of the world around you (which is often inaccurate) and from the lens that you have naturally developed through life circumstances, to a biblical perspective that leads to mental health freedom. You will learn how to train your mind so that you can develop a new way of thinking.

Week 3

Bible Help

The Bible talks about worry and mindset, many times, and gives powerful tips for

how to deal with fear. We will talk about specific passages from the Bible that provide guidance–specific tools--for overcoming worry and fear. We will talk about how the Bible integrates with evidence-based practices for the treatment of worry in the mental health world.

Week 4

Bonuses!

bonus 5th session

Later in the week following your fourth session, we will have a 5th session where I will go over remaining questions that have arisen during our trainings and talk more about areas that training participants have expressed special interest in. We will also talk about additional tools for worry that aren’t specifically thought-focused, including tips for diet, exercise, and sleep that promote the most positive mental health.

worksheets

You will receive multiple worksheets including self-reflection and action planning sheets, as well as detailed tools for at-home use that I use regularly in my practice. You can use these worksheets to create a personalized plan for combating worry.
